Little Canvas Wanted....

After having my artwork on display at where I work, my assistant manager made a request for a special heart to be painted onto a small canvas.

The background is a wash of baby blue and I have painted the heart in acrylics layering it up using a few different reds and white. I've given it a textured approach finishing it with a small daisy in the centre. I wanted to give it an extra touch so I glued some delicate little beads all around the edge.
I'm really happy with it and so is he! Simple but effective :)

More symmetry paintings...

I love the outcome I've been getting with these paintings. I have also tried out a unisex idea as most if the things I do are very girly and for the females. I have done a black and white silhouette idea which works really well :) welcome any comments about any of my work... Thanks :)

Birds in the City

I have been doing some stitched pictures with my bird prints. I call these particular ones 'Bird in the City'. These pieces are quite abstract as that was the originated appeal of the prints I created. I love abstract and as these aren't totally abstract because you can see what it is, it doesn't quite make sense in the way in which they perform to the viewer. It is very odd to be seeing such a large bird poking into what looks like city buildings.

TU at Sainsbury's Design Brief

During my time at university we were given a design brief from TU clothing at Sainsbury's. We were to design a range of autumn patterns for either toddler boys or girls. I chose toddler girls to design for and wanted to use paisleys and squirrels as my motifs to create them. All my designs are produced using cutouts of coloured card and here are my favourite designs.

Metallic Butterflies

I wanted to paint and draw pretty butterflies ready for Spring/Summer. Happy and colourful, I painted butterflies in pastel colours and then drew in detail with a silver or gold metallic pen which brought them to life! The rose painting with butterflies and small butterfly painting were requests, all of these have been sold!

Graham & Brown Live Brief

During my second year of University we were given a live brief from Graham & Brown. We were all to design a Wallpaper and Wall Art. I chose to go for a Geometric wallpaper design and I wanted this to be perfect for the living room or bedroom. It needed to appeal to the majority of customers and be perfect for just the one wall in the living space.
I did trend research and came across these amazing colours, which attracted both male and female, probably more for the new couples homes. Red and plum are very positive and feel good colours so I mixed with these. I found that Wallpapers which were finished off with felt or metallic was very popular at this time and wanted to generate a little bit of this within mine so I added a touch of silver which finished my design off perfectly and was very happy with!

For my Wall Art I wanted to go for a sketchy/quirky kind of feel. I chose the motif of 'Buttons'. I wanted it to be simple and modern. I had done some research which suggested the market was looking for something along these lines. I chose the triple art work so this can be put up horizontally or vertically in a row.

Remembrance Day...never forget x

Around the time of Remembrance Day 2012 I had a request from a lady to paint her some lovely rich coloured poppies on one canvas and a single poppy on another. I used a mixture of watercolour paints and acrylics. These flowers are nicely floating on the canvas giving a delicate meaning to them. They have a realness to them as well as a a little touch of quirkiness. I really enjoyed giving these to the lady, she was very happy with them and will be displaying them in her bedroom.

The Good-Old Grandparents

Finished my painting of my Nan&Grandad today. Quite pleased with my first portrait painting. It's a bit tricky painting faces, I used acrylic paints and layered this up. I finished it all off by adding detail in with pencil, this worked really well. The Grandparents are very happy and will be showcasing it in there home :) Happy! :)
