Charmed Majik.....my final major project I did for my degree :)
I thoroughly enjoyed this project and it would have to be my most favourite project I have done so far.
It was based on the idea of charm bracelets. I wanted to do a very girly commercial project using lots of soft pretty colours. I wanted to bring in an element of what I enjoyed when I did my 'Inspire Me Papers' project. Anything can be a charm. Something that we hold to give us luck. Everyone has something different they look to for hope. I personally have rings I wear which I think hold great power and energy, I like that I have something to look to when I'm sometimes feeling sad or nervous. I know that they don't hold real living powers but that's where the 'majik' comes in. I think its nice how we have our delicate valuables, which are sometimes even a pair of lucky pants, that give us that bit of confidence and hope we need from day to day :)
My work is mainly based around the idea of jewelry and forming these charm bracelets but mixing it up by throwing in big, bold charms in the background. I chose lovely pastels as my palette of colours, I thought these were perfect as spring was just around the corner. My products were a range of bags, I was designing the surface pattern to go on a shopper bag, makeup bag and wash bag. Not only was I going to do paper designs, using mostly paints, but also transfer these designs onto textile forms and add lots of texture using stitch, beading and magic touch. My target market was for the high street shop Accessorize, my work would most definitley sit well under their name meeting their customers demands.
